Thank you for checking out CU AMSA. If you’d like to get involved in our organization, the best thing to do is attend a committee meeting.
Columbia University’s premedical chapter of AMSA is a student-run organization open to all undergraduate Columbia students. CU AMSA seeks to promote activism on the pre-medical level through increased understanding of our healthcare system. CU AMSA provides students with the opportunity to increase their awareness of local and global health issues by promoting active improvement in medical education; involving its members in the social, moral and ethical obligations of the profession of medicine; assisting in the improvement and understanding of world health problems; and creating an interactive and stimulating learning environment that promotes healthy relationships amongst its members. Members are supported in their admissions process to medical school through the establishment of mentoring programs and health-related activities and projects that extend the pre-med experience beyond the classroom.
CU AMSA is comprised of four committees. Each committee has its own lecture series, philanthropic interests, community service opportunities, and networks. All students are invited to join our committees at any time!
The meeting times for our four committees are below:
SPRING SEMESTER 2013
Bioethics Committee: TBA
Global Health Committee: Monday 9:00-10:00 PM in Hamilton 318
Public Health Committee: Wednesdays 9:00-10:00 PM in Hamilton 509
Women in Medicine Committee: Wednesdays 9:00-10:00 PM in Kent 411
All Columbia community members are invited to attend any of the events hosted by any of our committees. In addition to committee-specific events, CU AMSA holds “General Body CU AMSA” events that are open to all Columbia community members. These events aim to promote a vibrant pre-health and pre-medical student community by offering opportunities for student-student interaction, student-physician interaction, and student-academic advisor interaction.
Information about all upcoming committee and General Body CU AMSA events are available on our Home page.
